Canadian electronic pioneers Legion Of Green Men need no introduction to the
global electronic music scene. Since 1992 they have had releases on Plus 8 /
Virgin (Canada), Swim (UK), Interchill (Canada), Waveform (USA), Liquid Sound
Design (UK), Digital Structures (Sweden), Electronic Soundscapes (Greece), and
their own label Post Contemporary.
After a five year extended sabbatical, Legion Of Green Men have returned with a
new CD, BAQONTRAQ. Eagerly awaited by fans and colleagues, this 8 song
mini-album sees a darker, edgier side to LOGM. After a devastating hard drive
crash in late 2005, much of what was to be the next album was lost in cyber Hell,
and only a small handful of recordings were salvaged. Heartbroken and utterly
frustrated, Lex and Rew almost called it quits for good. Thankfully, they
persevered, picked up the pieces, began to rebuild, and redefined a new sound
they call “the GRONK!”
The result, is BAQONTRAQ. Originally intended as a vinyl 12”, LOGM
approached the tracks that would have been their famed locked groove “Eternal
Opuscules” by recombining them with out-takes of the retrieved songs and their
analog modulars to create totally new mixes and variations that keep
BAQONTRAQ dynamic and inventive from start to finish. It truly sounds like no
other. From uptempo dancehall thumpers, to zero BPM chill, to rump shakin’
bass, this is not just an extended single, but a new frontier for one of Canada’s
best kept secrets, Legion Of Green Men.
This is a limited numbered edition, so get it while you can. There’s also a bonus
secret track that will never be available for download. (pssst! rewind from track one!)
